Laurel Park Equine Therapy was created to offer a calm, supportive environment where people can experience the therapeutic benefits of connecting with horses — without riding. Our practice is grounded in safety, respect and a belief in the healing power of gentle, mindful interaction.
While equine‑assisted therapy remains at the heart of what we do, Laurel Park has grown to support a wider range of clients through groundwork‑only, low‑risk programs designed to build confidence, capability and connection.
Tanya Coulter is a second‑generation horsewoman who has been riding since before she can remember. Growing up in Victoria, she came through the Pony Club system and quickly discovered the same passion for show jumping that her mother shared. Horses have always been at the centre of Tanya’s life, shaping her childhood, her values and her deep respect for the horse–human relationship.
After moving to Queensland, Tanya began retraining off‑the‑track thoroughbreds, helping them transition into calm, confident partners after their racing careers. She continues to compete regularly at Agricultural Shows and World Cup events and can’t imagine a life without horses in it.
Alongside her competition experience, Tanya has developed a strong foundation in trauma‑sensitive, groundwork‑only equine‑assisted practice. Her approach blends decades of horsemanship with a calm, attuned presence that helps clients feel safe, grounded and supported.
Tanya also has a comprehensive appaloosa breeding program underway with 2 appaloosa foals due at the end of November 2026.
Tanya lives at Laurel Park with her 6 horses and her much‑loved animal companions — Kozi, her 13‑year‑old red cattle dog, Zoe, her 16‑year‑old cat and too many chickens to count — who are all very much part of the heart of the property.
Her sessions reflect a lifetime of learning, a deep respect for horses and a genuine commitment to helping people reconnect with themselves through gentle, mindful interaction.
Horses respond to authenticity, presence and emotional clarity. Whether supporting emotional wellbeing, building confidence or teaching foundational horsemanship, our work is grounded in the belief that horses help us develop awareness, resilience and balance.
Horses offer immediate, honest feedback. Their calm presence helps clients develop awareness, confidence and emotional balance.
